A Clear Picture of your Oral Health
A check-up gives your dentist the chance to look for decay, gum disease and other changes early, when they are often simpler to manage. A professional clean removes the plaque, tartar and surface stains that brushing and flossing leave behind.
However long it has been since your last visit, you are welcome here. No lecture and no judgement. We take an honest look at where things are and what, if anything, needs attention.
Check-up and Clean Offer
With private health insurance that includes dental cover: Gap-free. We accept your fund’s benefit as full payment, so there is no out-of-pocket cost.
Without dental cover: $275.
What’s included: a dental examination, an oral screening, a professional scale and clean, and a treatment plan if anything needs attention. Bitewing X-rays, an OPG X-ray and intraoral photographs are included where your dentist finds them clinically necessary.
Terms: Available until 31/12/2026. Gap-free applies while you have benefits remaining for these items with private health insurance. If your fund pays no benefit, the $275 fee applies. Rebates vary by fund and policy, so call us to check.

A full examination
Your dentist checks your teeth, gums, tongue and the soft tissues of your mouth, along with your bite and jaw joints. We look for signs of decay, gum disease, wear and other changes, and ask about anything that has been bothering you.
An Oral Cancer Screening
We check the soft tissues of your mouth for lumps, patches, ulcers or other changes that may need a closer look. If we see anything of concern, we explain what we found and refer you for further assessment where needed.
X-rays and Photos
X-rays and photos are taken where clinically necessary to show areas a visual examination can’t: between the teeth, under fillings, and around the roots and jaw bone. Intraoral photos let you see what your dentist sees.
A professional scale and clean
We remove plaque and hardened tartar above and just below the gumline using an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments. Then we polish away surface stains. Your teeth will usually feel smoother afterwards.
Advice and a clear treatment plan
We finish with advice for your own teeth and gums, such as brushing technique, cleaning between teeth and diet. If anything needs attention, you get a written treatment plan with your options and costs. There is no pressure to book on the day.
For all Ages
We see patients of all ages, from young children to older adults. For children, regular visits are a chance to get comfortable in the dental chair and learn good brushing habits early. They also let us keep an eye on teeth as they come through. For adults and older patients, check-ups can pick up changes such as gum recession, worn enamel, or problems around older fillings and crowns. Every appointment is tailored to your age, oral health and history.
Why Visits Matter
- Removes tartar that brushing and flossing cannot remove at home
- Gives your dentist the chance to find decay, gum disease and other changes early
- Builds a record of your oral health, so changes are easier to spot from one visit to the next
- Gives you time to ask questions and get advice for your own teeth and gums

Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in your check-up and clean appointment?
A dental examination, an oral screening, a professional scale and clean, and a treatment plan if anything needs attention. Bitewing X-rays, an OPG X-ray and intraoral photographs are included where your dentist finds them clinically necessary. It is gap-free with no out of pocket cost with private dental cover, or $275 without, subject to the offer terms.
How often should I have a dental check-up and clean?
Your dentist will recommend a visit schedule that suits you, based on your oral health and risk factors. Regular visits let us remove tartar that brushing can’t reach and help detect decay or gum disease early. Some patients, such as those with gum disease, a history of decay or who smoke, may need to be seen more often.
What's the difference between a professional clean and brushing at home?
Brushing and flossing remove soft plaque. Any plaque that is missed can start to harden into tartar (calculus) within a few days. Tartar bonds to the tooth and can’t be removed with a toothbrush or floss, so it needs dental instruments. A check-up also covers things a clean doesn’t, such as examining your teeth and gums for decay and other changes.
Does a dental clean hurt?
You may feel vibration, water spray and some pressure. Teeth or gums can feel sensitive during or after the clean, particularly if there is a lot of tartar or your gums are inflamed. Tell us if you are uncomfortable and we can pause or adjust what we are doing. If dental visits make you nervous, let us know when you book so we can allow extra time and talk you through each step.
Why might my dentist check my jaw joint, airway and screen for oral cancer?
These checks are part of the examination and are carried out where clinically indicated. They help us look for signs of clenching or grinding, jaw joint problems, and soft tissue changes that may need further assessment. Tell us if you have jaw clicking, jaw pain or headaches, or if you grind your teeth. If anything needs a closer look, we explain what we found and refer you to your GP or a specialist where appropriate.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Your health fund card, a list of any medications you take, and details of previous dental treatment or recent X-rays if you have them. Please arrive about 10 minutes early to complete your health history form.
